(Saturnalia Books) This collection of poetry examines themes of crossings, from East versus West to the external world versus the internal one. The poems are told in a variety of voices, from that of a 1960s sanitation worker to a marionette. Kuan is the recipient of a U.S. Fulbright scholarship in creative writing (Taiwan), a University of Iowa Writer’s Workshop Graduate Merit fellowship, and two Pushcart Prize nominations.
