(Self-published) This memoir tells the story of how Notkin, traveling to Egypt, met an Ethiopian woman. She invites him into her life, but is later arrested and asks him to save her by taking her to the United States. When she saves him in their conflicting search for the good life, it turns his understanding of her and the African diaspora on its head. Notkin is a writer, photographer, graphic designer, cellist, husband, and father.
