Saving God: Religion After Idolatry
(Princeton University Press) The author argues that established religions are idolatrous and that God must be freed from their confines to save religion itself. Johnston presents a conception of God consistent with the framework of natural sciences. His next book, Surviving Death (Princeton University Press), to be published in 2010, examines belief in life after death. Johnston is the Walter Cerf Professor of philosophy.
