“I don’t think a Princeton tiger should look like a pussycat,” said sculptor Bruce Moore, pictured at right. This 800-pound, 11-foot tiger is made of bronze and sits on a four-ton granite pedestal. The female tiger, shown, and the male one facing it, were installed at Adams Mall, between Whig and Clio halls. Hugh Trumbull Adams ’35 donated $85,000 for the mall and art work in June 1965. The project was completed in October 1969 about a month after Princeton’s first female undergraduates arrived on campus and quickly became symbols of Princeton’s coeducation.
