From the Archives: FitzRandolph Observatory

In September, the University began disassembling the FitzRandolph Observatory to make way for the new Roberts Stadium near Jadwin Gym. The building hosted generations of stargazers, including these visitors at a November 1954 open house: Pictured (l-r) are: Walter Rothschild 1913, Chandler Cudlipp 1919, Professor Lyman Spitzer *38, Charles K. Wallace 1918, Horace Platt 1912 (in back), and Penn Harvey 1908.
