ROBERT CALDERBANK, professor of electrical engineering, mathematics, and applied and computational mathematics, was named dean of natural sciences at Duke University as of July 1. Calderbank also was the director of the Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics.
KATHERINE S. NEWMAN, professor of sociology and public affairs, will become dean of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University Sept. 1. Newman also was the director of the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies.
