Facets: Contemporary Interpretations of Classic Hymns

By Todd Beaney ’80 and John M. Dolan ’80
1 min read

In this collection of contemporary arrangements of 15 classic Christian hymns (available from iTunes or at www.toddbeaney.com), the musicians — Beaney on piano and Dolan on trumpet — employ a variety of styles, from rhythm-and-blues and swing to bluesy gospel and Latin jazz. A composer, arranger, teacher, and church musician, Beaney also has released the CDs Piano Praise and Higher Ground. Dolan is a member of the research faculty of Carnegie Mellon University. He has played trumpet in a jazz-rock band and served as music director of a church in Pittsburgh.
