The San Francisco Bay Area quintet, Fortune Smiles, featuring Dan Krimm ’78 on electric bass, Gary Monheit ’80 on piano, Ted Nirgiotis on guitar, Leonard Sklar on tenor sax, and Matt Willis on drums, has released its first CD. The band draws on its members’ experience in a wide variety of musical forms, including classical, progressive, rock, and Caribbean and Latin jazz to create a modern eclectic jazz sound. Fortune Smiles is scheduled to perform at Yoshi’s jazz club in Oakland, Calif., on Feb. 7.
