South Korean President Lee Myung-bak appointed economist Chung Un-chan *78 to be the country’s new prime minister. A Sept. 3 statement from Lee’s office highlighted Chung’s policy expertise and his “unmatched capabilities in the international arena.” Chung served as president of Seoul National University from 2002 to 2006. He was a visiting fellow at the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies last fall.
