Princeton will collaborate with The Rockefeller University, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research on the new Weill Cancer Hub East, a research initiative “dedicated to making immunotherapy more effective for cancer patients,” the University announced in late March. The hub is backed by $125 million of philanthropic funding, including a $50 million gift from the Weill Family Foundation and contributions from the four partner institutions. Chemistry professor Joshua Rabinowitz will direct Princeton’s role in the hub.
ReachOut 56-81-06, an alumni-funded venture of the classes of 1956, 1981, and 2006, selected five seniors — Adriana Alvarado ’25, Mahya Fazel-Zarandi ’25, Celine Ho ’25, Katie Horan ’25, and Joy Patterson ’25 — to receive public service fellowships in the coming year. Alvarado will work with the Dolores Huerta Foundation on outreach and advocacy aimed at providing health care to farmworkers. Fazel-Zarandi will collaborate with the United Nations Population Fund in Uzbekistan on addressing reproductive health challenges. Ho will partner with the East-West Center and United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to address several issues in Vanuatu and the Pacific Islands. And Horan and Patterson are teaming up on a project at the Camphill Newton Dee community for people with disabilities in Aberdeen, Scotland.
