Sweet send-off for a departing dean

For retiring Dean of the College Nancy Weiss Malkiel, April 29 marked the most flavorful stop on her farewell tour: “Dean’s Bake,” a Food Network-style contest in which students and confectioners from Princeton’s dining services decorated cakes in her honor. Seventeen groups of students applied, and organizers selected three promising teams. The winning entry, shaped like the Princeton shield, included chocolate cake, orange mascarpone mousse, and a layer of toasted almonds; it was frosted with chocolate ganache and butter-cream icing. Malkiel thanked the competitors for their tasty tributes and said the event was “the most remarkable experience I can recall.”
