Albert Burchfield Craig Jr. ’46

Al prepared at Lawrenceville and entered Princeton in 1943. The following year he moved to Cornell Medical College and then spent three years studying internal medicine at the University of Rochester. From 1951 to 1953 he served as a medical officer at the Army Chemical Center in Maryland, then continued at the University of Rochester as a research fellow, instructor, and member of the department of physiology. His major interests were swimming, teaching, and research in the biomechanics and physiology of swimming.

He held a commonwealth fellowship for teaching in Nigeria and a Fulbright fellowship for study in Oslo, among many other professional and civic activities.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sybil Smart; a daughter, Lee Craig Lundback; and three sons, Albert B. Craig III, John Gibson Craig, and Gregory Lewis Craig. His father was Albert B. Craig ’15.
