Garry died Feb. 26, 2023, in Lyme, N.H. He was 87.

He came to Princeton from East Aurora (N.Y.) High School, where he played football and baseball. At Princeton, he was on the baseball team, majored in mechanical engineering, and was president of Cannon Club. After graduation, Garry was an infantry officer in the Marine Corps. He earned a master’s degree (1965) and a Ph.D.  (1969) from the University of Pennsylvania.

In 1959, he married Judy Dorries. They lived their first years together in Camp Lejeune, N.C.; and then in Philadelphia; Manchester, Conn.; and Clarence, N.Y., before settling in Lyme. Garry and Judy built a strong community of friends there, who traveled and had lots of fun together. Garry died never knowing Judy’s winning strategy in gin rummy.

Garry was predeceased by Judy in 2011. He is survived by their three children, Garry Jr., Michael, and Barbara; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his companion and friend Jane Fant. The class extends its deepest sympathy to them all.
