J. Randall Choun ’71

Body

The death of J. Randall “Randy” Choun in Denver, Colo., was reported in 2014.

Randy came to Princeton from Wheat Ridge High School in suburban Denver, one of 10 Coloradans to enter that year. He majored in economics. Randy’s roommates included Bill Pettit, John Gwynne, and James Aliferis ’69. He was a regular photographer for The Daily Princetonian and also participated in freshman sailing.

Randy returned to Colorado after graduation and operated a wine distributorship, The Wine Group, in downtown Denver. Randy was busy as head of the nonprofit River Heritage Society, which was involved in numerous activities relating to Denver’s South Platte River. The Society organized inner-city youth for riverbank cleanups, tree planting, and other service projects, as well as conducting river ecology seminars with the Denver Public Schools.

He was married to Roberta Smith at the time of our 20th reunion in 1991 and later divorced.

The class extends its sympathy to his brother and friends.
