Jim died suddenly May 29, 2007, in Lakewood, Colo., after an apparent seizure at home.

Jim came to Princeton from Lakewood High School in suburban Denver, where he was a scholar and athlete. At Princeton he majored in English, participated in IAA sports, and belonged to Cap and Gown. As a Commons Captain he worked long hours. Jim famously drove 54 cases of Coors from Colorado in his pickup truck to satisfy the tastes of East Coast beer aficionados. At Cap, he was well known for his ability to play by ear almost any popular tune on the piano for a sing-along. He roomed with Brian McCullough senior year in Little.

After graduation he returned to Colorado and earned a law degree from the University of Colorado. Jim enjoyed the outdoors and his solitude. He married Liz, and they had a son, Patrick, and a daughter, Kate. Most of his professional career was devoted to the insurance business in the Denver area. Friends remember his intelligence, humor and ready smile.

The class extends belated condolences to his family and friends.
