John died suddenly Nov. 4, 1991, at his home in Princeton, N.J.

John came to Princeton from Avondale High School in suburban DeKalb County, Ga., where he was a scholar and lineman on a powerhouse football team. His roots in the Atlanta area ran deep, as a descendant of the original settler of Irbyville, where his ancestors lived and owned a tavern with a giant buck’s head mounted securely over the front door, became the posh area now called Buckhead!

John loved the sciences, bravely majoring in physics. He cherished the camaraderie of Tower Club and the Princeton experience. He served as a volunteer assistant coach for lightweight football.

John married his high school sweetheart, Christine, at the Princeton Chapel in June 1970. Their son, Jason, was born in 1975. John and Christine remained in Princeton after graduation, where he managed Tenacre Foundation, a Christian Science nursing organization, from 1980 to 1991. He adventurously traveled and photographed in Israel and Brazil. He also developed and distributed instructional videotapes for Christian Science nursing organizations around the country.

John loved family members, friends, and God deeply, sharing his life, love, confidence, and joy through his practice of the Science (and religion) of his choice. The class extends belated condolences to his family and friends.
