Leonard L. Ernst ’25

Leonard was born March 2, 1905, in New York City and lived for many years in Bergenfield, N.J. After graduating from Princeton, he worked on Wall Street and as a financial analyst in the entertainment industry. He served as an officer in the Army during World War II and was stationed in Florence, Italy. Leonard retired as comptroller of Columbia Pictures and moved to Tucson in 1974.

A lifelong classical music enthusiast, he served as treasurer of the Tucson Opera Guild until his late 90s. A devoted Princeton alumnus, Leonard attended Reunions in 2002, 2004, and 2005 (his 80th reunion) as the oldest graduate in attendance and was proud to lead the P-rade on each occasion, carrying the silver tiger-headed cane on which his name is engraved.

Leonard was predeceased by his wife, Minarose, and his daughter, Margaret, and is survived by his nephew, Richard Asche ’64, and his niece, Judith Stoll.
