Robert Sidney Lebair ’46

Bob came to Princeton from Jenkintown High School in 1941 and graduated in 1946 with a degree in economics. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943, and in 1951 was recalled to serve in the Korean War as a Navy intelligence officer on several battleships. He resigned in 1953 after having received medals for his World War II service and additionally the Korean Service Medal with two stars, the China Service Medal, and the U.N. Service Medal.

After graduation, he worked for the York Corp. before starting his own air-conditioning business in Wilmington, Del. In 1961 he formed a second company that grew and prospered until the mid-1970s. He remained a business adviser until his retirement in 1991.

In retirement, Bob devoted time to his family and their summer home on Lake Megunticook, Maine. He supported the Navy League, the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia, and other historically oriented organizations.  

Bob is survived by Marie, his wife of 58 years; his children, Marie, Robert Jr., Michael, James, and William; and 11 grandchildren.
