Sue-Jean Lee Suettinger ’70

Body

Sue-Jean died peacefully June 29, 2011, at her home with her family at her side. She had battled leukemia for nearly 11 months, combining treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital with traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, but to no avail.

One of the first female graduates of Princeton and the first woman to be in the cast of Triangle Club, Sue-Jean had served on the Alumni Council as head of Asian American Alumni Association of Princeton (A4P) and was a regular participant in reunion activities. She had been a China business consultant for several prominent firms, and taught Chinese-language courses at the Maret School in Washington, D.C. She also was active in her church in Wheaton, Md., where she headed a successful building campaign.

Sue-Jean married Robert L. Suettinger, who also had studied at Princeton in the Critical Languages Program, in 1972. They had three children, Stephen, Katharine, and Matthew, and three grandchildren. To them all, the class extends its sincere condolences.
