Human Dignity
(Harvard University Press) In this book, Kateb argues that dignity is an intrinsic worth unique to humans. He shows that harm inflicted emotionally is often worse than physical harm, because humans are owed dignity, and, to deny a person that, is to treat them as an animal or instrument. Kateb is the William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Politics, Emeritus, at Princeton University.
