James H. Wetter ’47
Jim graduated in 1946 and was recruited by the Boyle Investment Co. in Memphis to help set up an insurance agency for that company. While engaged in this work he met Betty (Elizabeth McCadden) and married her in 1949.
Jim soon became president of the Boyle Insurance Agency Inc. and grew its business to provide services to more than 6,000 clients engaged in diverse businesses requiring very special skills to cover their needs. He retired in 1992 after 25 successful years. He and Betty then bought a second home on Grand Cayman in the British West Indies, where they spent “four relaxing months” each year. Life in Memphis was greatly enhanced when their three children settled there and produced three much-enjoyed grandchildren.
Jim died Aug. 17, 2009.
In our 50th-reunion book he wrote about his “many fond memories of Princeton” and his ’47 friends. His roommate, Bud Taylor, writes that Jim was “always fun to be with . . . enjoying life no matter what was going on. He was truly Gentleman Jim.”
We send sympathy and warm wishes to Betty and the family.
