Oakford Woodnutt Action Jr. ’37

Body

Oak was born in Salem, N.J., in 1914. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, where he was on the soccer team. He majored in politics at Princeton and later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Oak was married in 1942 and soon thereafter went into military service with the Army Air Force for three and a half years. He was discharged as a second lieutenant.

Following his military service, Oak returned to Salem, where he practiced law, specializing in real estate, estate planning, and probate, and representing small banks. As he once said about himself, “I am a generalist and call myself a country lawyer, and I am proud of it.”

Oak had one son and one daughter. We extend our sincere sympathy to them and others in the family, and remember him as a faithful member of our class.
